Composite vs Wood decking

The invention of composite decks occurred as people were demanding less maintenance and more durability from their treated lumber decks.  Composite decks even tried to imitate the look of wood, but then the problems began.  Combining wood with PVC was causing some serious durability issues.

But what if a deck could be made out of sustainable resources and be made to be stronger than man made composite materials  What if a natural wood material could be found that required less maintenance and care than a composite deck?  And what if the deck could be beautiful, more like fine crafted furniture?  That would be some challenge and that would be some deck.

Deck - Mangaris 3Mangaris has accomplished the impossible by developing a wood deck from the Red Balau tree harvested from tree plantations.  The visually stunning natural wood is jaw dropping, but its secret lies not in its beauty but in its brawn.

Most composite decks require floor joists to remain closely spaced from 12” – 16” on center to eliminate deck wobbles and to hide their natural sponginess.  Not Mangaris.  You can go a full 32” on center while maintaining a stronger pounds per square inch than a composite can achieve with a 12” on center installation.  The Mangaris is much harder than California Redwood and Cedar.

The warranty reads like a speech from your dad.  Honest, direct and simple to understand.  20 years of warranty – no rotting, no decay, no structural issues and no need to seal or treat your deck.  If you google “problems with composite decks” you will find that mold grows and causes composite decks to become weak and actually break.  This has eliminated some major manufacturers from the composite deck business and has created lawsuit challenges for others.  Not so with Mangaris.

One of the most important highlights of Mangaris decking is that it actually costs less than the typical composite deck.  That should inspire you to click through the Mangaris decking page to see a portfolio of these gorgeous natural wood decks.
