Freeze Thaw Test
Freeze Thaw is a Michigan experience. You wake up in the morning to freeze and then experience the Thaw early in the afternoon. It’s a way of life.

It not only effects our moods and personal reactions, it also moves the building materials in your own house.
Contraction and expansion are two things that can prematurely wear out and break down your home especially the decorative stone on your house.
That is why Canyon Rock participated in the freeze thaw cycle test. This test places stone into a submerged liquid to a completely frozen solid ice block and back again to dripping liquid. Each of these cycles is counted as one. The goal is to see how many freeze thaw cycles the material can handle. The competition always breaks in less than 200 cycles. The test slide doesn’t even go higher than 200 until Canyon Rock came along. After 300 cycles, the testers finally gave up. Canyon Rock seems impervious to the many freeze thaw cycles of our Michigan extreme weather conditions.
This Freeze Guard Technology of GAF Canyon rock injects tiny air pockets into the only fully oven baked stone to allow for expansion and contraction without breaking, chipping or coming off the building. That is one of the reasons they can offer a 50 year labor and material warranty on their stone.
The next time you use both a heater and air conditioner on the same day in our extreme weather conditions, feel confident that your beautiful stone, which has increased your home’s value, is doing just fine.
