Cary, N.C. – New for 2013, Mastic Home Exteriors by Ply Gem introduces the Mastic Color Advisor app for iPads, a free design tool to help contractors guide homeowner customers through the process of selecting exterior color options.
The app helps reduce color indecision among customers, allowing contractors to move quickly through the product selection stage and close and finish projects with higher customer satisfaction.
"Contractors don’t have to be color experts to bring design value to the kitchen table; visual design tools, such as the Mastic Color Advisor app, make it easier for contractors to start design conversations with homeowner customers,” said Jerry Blais, vice president, marketing, Ply Gem siding group. “The app allows contractors to present more options to homeowners, guiding them toward coordinated exterior colors beyond white and beige, and incorporating secondary and accent colors to give the home architectural character, ultimately resulting in bigger jobs and happier customers."
Mastic Color Advisor offers recommendations for four exterior elements: a primary siding color to cover most walls of the exterior; a secondary siding color for architectural features such as bump outs, dormers and gables; a trim color for fascia and window and door frames; and an accent color for items such as shutters. The app contains hundreds of pre-selected and coordinated color palettes formulated by leading color experts.
The app begins with a selection of three different paths: Inspire Me, Guide Me or Let Me Pick.
The "Inspire Me" path is designed for customers who are unsure of which color they want, and are in need of inspiration to help make a selection. The app guides users through various home design images. Users select if they like the image, do not like the image or are neutral toward the image. The app then generates a color palette based on the attitudes the homeowner expressed about styles, color tones and hues in those images.
The "Guide Me" path is for customers that are in-tune with personal tastes, but are unsure of which colors will work for their home and style. Users are guided through questions to determine if they prefer warm or cool tones, traditional or modern looks, and bold or subtle designs. A color palette is then personalized for the user based on the responses.
The "Let Me Pick" path is for customers who know their favorite color but want to know what colors coordinate well. With “Let Me Pick,” users begin by choosing a primary siding color. Once a color has been selected, the app generates palette suggestions for the secondary siding, trim and accents.
After deciding on a color palette, users can save the selections for future access, and have the option to share on Facebook, Twitter or to email their selections. To further visualize exterior home design, the siding colors can later be selected in The Designed Exterior Studio by Ply Gem visualizer, available on mastic.com. Users can choose the siding colors generated by the Mastic Color Advisor, and can then select windows, stone veneer, roofing and entry door colors to complement the siding.
"By expanding the color selection process into The Designed Exterior Studio, contractors can demonstrate to their customers an even more accurate visualization of what a complete exterior home renovation would look like," said Blais. "The Designed Exterior Studio combines the complete exterior solution, including products Ply Gem manufactures – siding, stone veneer, shutters, trim, windows – as well as additional products, such as roofing and entry doors, to give users a realistic visual."
